| A SLIGHTLY SONDHEIM WEDDING | |
Presented by The Judith Wright Centre and Oscar Theatre Company, the world premiere of A Slightly Sondheim Wedding hits Brisbane this June but be warned, it’s a punchy musical cabaret about cold feet, love and …fruit cakes.
Featuring standout Brisbane performers Megan Shorey and Leisa Barry-Smith as co-creators, and Chris Fennessy, celebrated in London’s West End for his recent performance as Jean Val Jean in Les Miserables, this cabaret performance combines songs by multiple Grammy/Tony award winner Stephen Sondheim, Jason Robert Brown and other contemporary songwriters.
“Both Megan and I bring a world of writing experience to the table in this exciting collaboration,” Leisa Barry-Smith said.
“This show was born out of a mutual admiration for each other’s work,” Megan Shorey said.
A Slightly Sondheim Wedding, produced by Oscar Theatre Company, will run from 4th to 7th June at the Judith Wright Centre in Fortitude Valley.
Oscar Theatre Company is Brisbane’s answer to New York’s off-Broadway scene, producing 2007’s critically acclaimed The Last Five Years, which enjoyed a sell out run and premiere here at the Judy so book now for the wedding event of the year. You might even get to join the honeymooners!
