December E-News
Hark! The sound of distant bells grows nearer. It is that time of year when the Judy has burnt out on parties, well-wishes and celebrations - and let’s not mention maxing out the credit on her heart-felt gifts that make up the 2008 program! But just before we go…..
Wrapping up November
Billy the Rabbit, featuring Michael Leunig and Gyan, was a fabulous show full of the whit, social commentary and delicate humour we anticipated. Michael and Gyan were a hit with the crowd, signing autographs and merchandise after each show. It was also the 31st season at the Judy to completely sell out this year!
Chinese Whispers/Broken Telephone was a hoot! Great dancing, music and audience participation made for a memorable evening. Who’d have thought party whistles and a crash course in dancing would mix so well.
Ed Kuepper and the Kowalski Collective rocked the house, Picnic Playreadings saw a new series of plays come to life, and resident company C!RCA bred a new crop of superheros in their circus training classes (which run through into late December).
The premier of Whispers of a Wik Women by Fiona Doyle and presented by Kooemba Jdarra was a beautiful and inspirational season of theatre.
We also said farewell to the ABC production team behind Talking Heads. The ABC has decided to move the filming of this popular show to Adelaide from 2008. It’s been great having Peter and the team here over the past 14 months and we wish them well.

Vulcana Women’s Circus is busily setting up for their season of Uncharted which opens this Thursday. A brilliant new show incorporating circus, capoeira, puppetry, music and dance, Uncharted is the journey to an exciting but hidden place uncovered by members of the migrant and refugee communities of Logan and Brisbane. The season runs until this Saturday 8 December only!

Emerge present another instalment of their zany sketch comedy show Ha Ha Ha! Plop! opening this Thursday and running until Saturday 8 December.

Being There, a new dance work developed by Clare Dyson during her recent residency at Tanzfabrik in Berlin, is visually stark and emotionally charged and complex. This Australian premier features two of Queensland’s best dancers, Emily Amisano and Trish Wood. Come and see Clare’s latest work: an innovative voice in Australian dance and winner of the 2007 Best Independent Dance award.

C!RCA presents The Art End in their studio on Level 3. Full of outrageous skills, music and multi-media, it runs between December 13 and 15 at 8pm. To see these four post-circus adventures contact C!RCA directly at info@circa.org.au or call (07) 3852 3110.
