Sound - Live Art - Installation - Curated by Rebecca Cunningham
Live and direct from the woman who became infamous as the Steinway-Slayer after chain-sawing a piano on-stage in 2006 comes the latest action artwork @ the Judy, CHAMBERS.
This time Cunningham is cutting up the stage, dissecting the performance platform into six shadowy chambers, each with their own secrets for the intrepid audience to discover at will. Each chamber will wired for sound with four headsets piping abstract acoustics to accompany the five artists at large.
CHAMBERS is closer to an activated gallery than a theatre experience with each audience member creating their own individualized experience as they choose their own adventure through the artworks.
CHAMBERS is arranged chance, regulated anarchy, a coming together of artists and practices to create a collage of images and sounds.
This fifth event in the Judy’s Sound Logic series features the work of :
• Robin Fox - Melbourne based sound & visual artist whose live festival performances have included the Wien Modern Festival and the Noise & Glamour Festival, Moscow.
• Jan Baker-Finch – NZ born & educated, Jan relocated to Germany where she took up the study of Eurythmy – she has toured this form of movement sculpture through Europe, India & Japan.
• Alicia Jones – Having studied physical theatre for 3 ˝ years with local company FRANK, Alicia has a developing interest in ‘vigil’ art investigating a history of site.
• Richelle Spence – Political performance artist, celebratory & ritual performance practitioner as well as community arts worker; Rachelle is currently artist in residence at the State Library of Qld.
• Rebecca Cunningham – Curator and performer, Rebecca was classically trained in Clarinet at the Qld Conservatorium before becoming Brisbane’s doyenne of all things experimental.
