ALL-AGES AVANT-ELECTRO TRIPLE-HEADER @ THE JUDY
The fourth installation in the Judith Wright Centre’s Sound Logic Series sees an unprecedented triple-header of the finest talent from the experimental/electro community of Australia’s eastern seaboard.
“Superb electronic act IONIC wowed a packed crowd inside…” Revolver
IONIC are leaders of live danceable samplitude. Their unique audio-artistry is familiar to many from the opening sting of Tim Ritchie’s highly respected Radio National program Sound Quality, however they got their break in airplay under the spotlight of TripleJ’s Unearthed. Ionic create a mind-meld of contemporary electronica and funk with their innovative mix of turntables, laptops, guitars & strings. Since 2000, this duo has been bringing their new meaning to the term ‘live electronic’ by donning lab-coats and setting stages alight.
Cleptoclectics may just be Australia’s answer to the world-beating hip-hop montage masters of RJD2 or Danger Mouse. Hiding in the studios for the past few years, Cleptoclectics has finally emerged to bring to the world his idiosyncratic combination of emotive textures, polyrythmic beats, melodic interpretations and wall-of-sound compositions. Artiste of all things audio, Cleptoclectics has provided scores for installations, multimedia works, animations, films soundtracks and undertaken graduate research into sample-based aesthetics.
In a move that shook the local live music community, Lost of Love were recently forced off stage by police at the Valley Rotunda after complaints to police that their music was ‘too weird’. Returning to thumb their nose at local philistines, this experimental ensemble are raring to show audiences at the Jude just what the fuss was all about. A local ‘free-guardist’ supergroup, Lost of Love features that talents of Jackie Marshall, Edward Guglielmino, Chris Brady as well as members of the Boat People and Mexico City.
