FOURPLAY String Quartet 10th March
From the concert halls of Asia, through the rarefied rooms of British Arts centres and all around the Australian folk festival circuit, FourPlay have won a worldwide reputation for their skill, unique sound and often affectionate rock’n’roll satire as a rock string quartet.
This one-off performance at the Judy presents local audiences with a chance to experience live the delightful blends of pop, post-rock, “Bollyrock” and more that FourPlay developed with their recent release Now to the Future. Presenting original compositions with influences as diverse as klezmer, tango, slide guitar and folk-tronica, FourPlay continue their excursions into the contemporary and the exotic without losing the lush breathtaking beauty of strings.
As much a band as a classic four-piece string quartet, FourPlay’s celebrated blurring of the boundaries between the genres of music are not to be missed.
