LÚNASA (Ireland) Fri 2nd March @ 7:30pm
A full-tilt five-piece all-star acoustic band like only the Irish know how.
Don’t miss this world class act in their one-off Brisbane show!
The Judy is bracing herself for the band that the New York Times touted as “the hottest Irish acoustic group of the planet”. A decade after their acclaimed debut album, Irish all-stars Lúnasa is still one of the most sought-after bands on the international Irish music scene.
Lúnasa redefine Irish music by going right to the heart of its rhythms, seeking the essential heartbeat of traditional songs with their trademark use of the upright acoustic bass. According to legendary Irish bassist and Lúnasa lad Trevor Hutchinson, “There are lots of great melodies in Irish music but often people don’t hear the rhythms underneath… We let the music find its pulse.”
Lúnasa kicked off their 140-show-2006-world-tour with a 14,000 sell-out crowd in Glasgow. The band members are no strangers to the international stage having helped form the backbone of some of the greatest groups of the decade, including The Waterboys, The Sharon Shannon Band and Coolfin.
Named after an ancient Celtic Harvest in honour of Lugh, patron of the arts; Lúnasa is a must-see gathering of top Irish musical talent.
Book now to be sure not to miss this all-star show in their one-night-only Brisbane performance!
