Soaring Harmonies of Ancient Storytelling Traditions
Fresh from Woodford and a successful tour in the UK, Nicole Murray & John Thompson’s performances are packed with vitality, humour and excitement as they breathe new life into the great songs of the Australian, English and Celtic traditions.
The Judy welcomes back this locally loved duo from a tremendously successful season on the UK folk circuit where they delighted discerning international audiences with their own unique blend of guitars, flutes, whistles, percussion, concertina and divine vocals.
A Cloudstreet is a row of thermals marked by cumulous clouds. When gliders fly from thermal to thermal by following the clouds they ‘fly the cloudstreet’ staying aloft for miles. With their trademark soaring harmonies creating the illusion of a “third voice”, Cloudstreet keep their audiences aloft along with their spellbinding performances, lightly touching down at the end to thundering applause.
Cloudstreet will launch the Judy’s full-tilt, folk program trifecta starting this February, also featuring the incredible international talents of Irish superstars Lunasa (Fri 2 March) and English/Scottish folk icons Hulett & Swarbrick (Thu 5 April). Cloudstreet’s impassioned presentation is leavened with wit and great tales from their travels, so expect some new Cloudstreet stories @ the Judy!
