DIRECT FROM SELL-OUT SEASONS IN NEW YORK, LONDON AND EDINBURGH COMES TOM TOM CREW - Direct from selling out 21 consecutive shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and seasons in New York, London, Sydney and Adelaide, Tom Tom Crew will premiere in Brisbane at Judith Wright Centre from Wednesday 25 November until Saturday 12 December 2009.
NEW MUSICAL ON HOLD AS LIFE MIRRORS ART - A family crisis in which “life has mirrored art” has forced the postponement of new contemporary musical Handle with Care, which will now premiere at Judith Wright Centre from Wednesday 14 to Saturday 17 April 2010.
NEW MUSICAL CELEBRATES BEAUTY AND B*TCH OF BEING A WOMAN - The beauty and b*tch of being a woman will be celebrated in the world premiere of Handle with Care at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in Brisbane from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 November 2009. Created by acclaimed composer and performer Megan Shorey, Handle with Care comprises four mini-musicals that delve into issues of love and relationships, body image, motherhood and gender rivalry in the workplace.
EDINBURGH FESTIVAL STAR TO SERENADE BRISBANE FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY - Edinburgh Festival award-winner and internationally acclaimed Belgian chanteuse Micheline Van Hautem will serenade Brisbane for one night only with her new show Brel with Chocolat at Judith Wright Centre on Saturday 17 October 2009.
INDIE BANDS TO PERFORM MUSIC OF JOHNNY CASH, NICK CAVE, PJ HARVEY AND BOB DYLAN - The intoxicating songs of Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey and Bob Dylan among others will be performed by renowned local indie bands at a new concert series, Murder Ballads, kicking off at Judith Wright Centre on Saturday 10 October 2009.
CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED JAPANESE ARTISTS TO GIVE INTIMATE BRISBANE PERFORMANCE - Direct from Japan on their first Australian tour, acclaimed electronic pop artists aus and Cokiyu will headline NineHoursNorth with support by local indie pop band Do the Robot at Judith Wright Centre on Thursday 10 September 2009. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Björk and Icelandic band múm with their delicate “dream-pop” soundscapes, aus and Cokiyu will each perform at the intimate one-off Brisbane show, NineHoursNorth, where only 80 tickets are on offer.
